2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of passing my first securities exam, which helped propel me toward this amazing career of financial planning.
This brief note is short and sweet.
I want to begin by sharing that I am continuously energized and inspired by the work we do for you all at Know My Plan; the actual financial planning, I truly enjoy it.
Better, however, we really love the incredible people that we’re doing the planning for, all of you.
Years ago, Jeff and I made the decision that income and assets would not be the driving force behind what determines a great client, or not. Instead, we made the decision to build a business based on people that we enjoyed working with and helping.
One of the best business decisions we ever made.
A Few Observations to Close Out the Year:
- Planning is vitally important at all ages. The differences between 35, 45, 50, and 60 are simply that the plan evolves.
- A financial plan is never complete. It’s an evergreen document that will modify with your life, situations, and goals.
- How we get there… We continue to believe the planning is greater than the plan.
- Everyone has questions, regardless of income:
- “Am I on track, will we be okay?”
- “What do I need to differently?”
- “Where are my blind spots?”
- “Can you help us?”
- Finally, one of my core convictions, financial planning is a lot like Vitamin C. You simply cannot get a one-time dose that’s adequate to last a lifetime. Our job as the stewards of your hard-earned capital is to ensure that you’re consistently receiving your Vitamin C (financial planning guidance & updates).
The future is incredibly bright for Know My Plan clients.
You all are taking more vacations, creating more memories, becoming financially independent, and living more generously than we could have imagined. Well deserved, well earned.
We love living vicariously through each one of you when you share pictures and stories of your experiences. Please continue to send them along.
Final note:
As we close 2025, we hope that in working with us we’ve given you the calming presence and confidence needed in your financial life.
If we’re not currently working together and you could use the help of a financial planner, please reach out to us. Also, if there’s someone in your life who you feel would benefit from our planning process, we would love to meet them as well.
If they are important to you, they are important to us.
–Nic
