Know My Plan Fees

What does it cost to work with Know My Plan?
Generally, we work with our clients in 1 of 2 ways:

We charge an asset-based fee (on the assets that we manage) not to exceed 1.15%.
— see full plain-english explanation below —
- We predominantly utilize exchange traded funds for asset management.
- We are committed to building low-cost diversified portfolios.
Our 1.15% fee covers your financial plan, ongoing support, and investment management.
However this fee does not include investment expense ratios – which are the price of investments that must be paid by all investors, no matter if they are working with an advisor or managing their investments on their own.
This fee varies depending on the investment(s), but we always look for low-fee investments and keep you fully informed, so there are no surprises or unexpected expenses.
— OR —

We charge a financial planning fee based upon complexity.
This ranges between $250 - $1,000/month.
Clarity, transparency, and other things to consider:
- We are a hybrid financial planning firm which means that we can charge advisory fees, but we can also receive commissions on brokerage accounts.
- We think it is critically important to be able to offer both advisory and commission-based products.
-
Many insurance-based products are available on a commission only basis.
We think it is imperative for our families to have appropriate levels of life, disability, and long-term care insurance.
We don’t want to outsource that to a 3rd party.
- When commissions are involved, we will clearly communicate.

As always, please ask all questions you have surrounding fees. Our clients having a full understanding of their portfolio is most important to us.
