I graduated from high school 26 years ago from a small sports obsessed town.
Varsity Blues (the movie) was a terrific proxy to exemplify my HS experience.
*Given my specific HS experience, many moments within the movie were embellished or completely non-events—however the overall tone holds up.
James Van Der Beek, the extremely well-known star of Varsity Blues (and Dawson’s Creek), recently passed of colorectal cancer. I was terribly saddened by this… So young.
His passing was a reminder of my own mortality and the fact that even though I identify with the 18-year-old version of myself, the reality is that I am now 44 – married with 3 kids.
We’re not 18 anymore.
We’re not invincible.
And whether we like it or not, we’re now the ones other people depend on.
Here are three questions I want you to consider:
- Do I have my estate planning documents completed?
- Do I have enough life insurance for my family if something happens to me today?
- Do I have an adequate amount of disability insurance if something happens where I cannot work?
That is why we build financial plans. We put responsibility in place long before we’re forced to.
If you haven’t addressed these questions yet, let’s make this the year you do. If you don’t have a financial plan yet, let’s make this the year you do.
